We’ve had a great experience with Resonate—it’s allowed us to create a podcast that we can restrict to a known list of people, while still allowing them to listen in the same way as they do with all their other podcasts. This has been a huge boon to adoption, and Resonate made it possible.

Four methods of private podcasting
1. Private RSS Feed
Keep your podcast out of directories
Resonate Private RSS Feeds notify podcast directories like Apple, Spotify, and Google not to index your podcast. Anyone with your feed link can subscribe to the show in their favorite podcast app, making this great for shows who want some light privacy, but aren’t concerned if a friend-of-a-friend can hear the show.
2. Authenticated Embed Player
Embed your podcast on your intranet
The Authenticated Embed Player can embed podcast episodes to your organization’s intranet, employee portal, or a subscribers-only website. This method is highly secure and difficult to access.
3. Unique Subscriber RSS Feed
Paywall your content
Unique Subscriber RSS Feeds generates a unique rss feed for every single subscriber of a podcast. This gives the creator full control to grant and revoke access to users after your podcast has been published.
4. Restricted Subscriber Microsite
Restrict listening to a secure microsite
Restricted Subscriber Microsite’s make listeners create a password-protected account on Resonate before logging onto your podcast microsite. This option logs all of the data from the Resonate Embed Player and keeps your audio off of all other platforms.

FAQ's
By definition, there is no such thing as a completely “private” podcast. Audio that can be downloaded over a network can be recorded and shared. But there is a spectrum of audio accessibility and privacy. Private podcasts are more protected and more difficult to access. Standard podcasts available in Spotify are the least protected and very easy to access with an app.
While even private podcasts can be recorded and shared in other mediums, there are strong limitations that can be set up to prevent that audio from being visible to people in the first place before they are able to record or distribute it separately.
Yes. Developers can use the subscribers API endpoint to manage their private podcast hosting subscribers. Read the full Resonate API documentation to learn more.
Private and internal podcasts are used for an incredibly wide range of purposes. Here are a few of the most common examples:
